Tyler Van Kirk is a computational designer and creative technologist based in Chicago IL. Tyler has held positions at both Turf Design and Sabin Lighting, as Computational Designer and Computational Design Leader respectively. He has led development of both internal and client facing computational driven tools as well as products leveraging on design and technology. Tyler’s holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan where his thesis “Synergy” explored the potential relationship between neural networks and the creation of architectural form. Throughout his time at university Tyler participated in research projects led by faculty as well as self-led research with ceramic extrusion printing and other newly developed fabrication techniques. His personal work exploring the relationships of image and form as well as his explorations sampling 17th century textiles have been featured in both DigitalFUTURES and Data Aided Design Magazine.
